It’s so crazy to think that another year has come to an end! And what a crazy, amazing year full of change it has been. I always love to reflect at the end of the year on the ways that I’ve changed and hopefully grown and along with that comes the goals and things I hope to achieve in the next year. Although I constantly set goals throughout the year and even on a daily basis, there’s something about starting fresh in a new year that makes it even that much more meaningful. So here are a few of those 2018 goals that I’ve set- some are old, some are new but I love having them here as a constant reminder over the next 12 months.
1. Progress not perfection
I don’t know about you all but it’s SO incredibly easy to compare yourself to others around you whether in a personal, physical, or professional respect and to allow that comparison to make you feel like you’re behind or doing something wrong. This year I want to focus on the progress that I’m making and to be proud of that and to let my inner perfectionist take a backseat.
2. Be positive
I’m a firm believer that your thoughts shape your circumstances and for that reason positive thinking is extremely important to me. It’s easy to let the little things bug you or skew your perspective, but I’m vowing to make a conscious decision in 2018 to turn those negative thoughts around whenever I notice them creeping up. You can’t always control the world around you but you can control the way you react to it!
3. Say “yes”
In 2018 I want to say yes to more. Yes to adventure, trying new things, and new opportunity. There’s always been a part of me that loves change. Big changes, little changes- all of it. So I plan to fully embrace it and say yes to the changes that come my way in the next year.
4. Be present
As much as I love the world of blogging and social media- it’s so, SO easy to live life distracted in the world we are in. We are all guilty of being hyper-focused on capturing or documenting a moment to the point where we miss what’s actually happening right in front of us. So in 2018 I want to be more aware, more present when those moments happen, even if that means missing a perfectly “instagrammable” moment.
5. Learn something new everyday
Whether it’s something big or small, I want to make sure I never lose that desire to keep growing and learning and expanding. Even if it’s listening to an informative podcast on the commute to work, or picking up a new book, there’s no reason to limit ourselves.
So excited for what’s to come in this year! I’d love to hear some of your resolutions in the comments below!
